Bye bye, Windows Media Player...Hello, Flip4Mac
It seems there will no longer be a Windows Media Player for the Mac, and I couldn't be happier. It has always been a necessary application to have on my computer, and it has always been one of the most frustrating apps to use.
There is good news (hopefully) for the future, however. Microsoft has contracted Telestream to develop the Flip4Mac WMV Quicktime plug-in to take the place of the stand-alone Windows Media Player application.
I've tested a few of my WMV files out in Quicktime w/ Flip4Mac, and it is something to behold. You can actually scrub through movies, the video doesn't start five seconds after the sound starts, and you actually use the fast-forward and rewind buttons. Imagine that.
Bye bye, WMP
