MSN, SEO and link titles
MSN's search engine apparently really likes link titles when it comes to SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
Someone signed up for Iron Sudoku today after searching for waste some time on MSN. Despite the fact that "some" is the only one of those three words that appears on Iron Sudoku, the site is #1 on the search results page.
I was scratching my head at this until I remembered that Jason had used a link title of "waste some time" in his Signal vs. Noise post last week.
So a single link from a popular site caused Iron Sudoku to jump to number one for the MSN search matching the link title. That's pretty impressive.
I don't have quite the pull that SvN has, but, as a test, I'm going to see if I can get Iron Sudoku to appear near the top for a another random phrase. Here goes nothing...
I love Skittles
UPDATE: It worked! Iron Sudoku is now #2 on the search results for "I Love Skittles" on MSN. :)
